A whole season went by, and with it, no posts.
In all honesty, I thought that I was going to drop this blog faster than I drop classes--no joke, I think I change classes and my mind at least a dozen times before figuring out what I want to do. But this blog isn't a course requirement, nor is it any sort of requirement. From the start, I simply felt totally unsure, typing out my thoughts and feelings for the entire world wide web to read and consume. Although the total amount of readers probably boils down to...three...at the very most. Me, myself, and I. Thank goodness. Because these musings are pure rubbish. Merely simple thoughts from a simple soul.
Summer, however, has been a total blessing. Time seemed to stop and rapidly move all at once. During May, I was studying the stars in an itsy-bitsy town known as Pitkin. I miss the Colorado chill and adventure. Its glorious mountains were my constant companion on my daily walks to class. I enjoyed weekend thrills, from white water rafting to horseback riding in the snowy hills. Oh, and I learned a thing or two, I promise. Thank goodness my science credits are over and finished--unless God has a twisted redress. Don't get any ideas.
It was quite the extreme alteration, leaving colorful Colorado and returning to roasting Dallas, Texas. Many asked why I chose to stay in Texas over the summer. And it's a valid question, one that lacks a complete and satisfying answer, I'm afraid. For a while, I reckoned that I would be cramming for the GRE, researching grad schools, and preparing for senior year's academic demands. I thought I would explore the city of Dallas and become aquainted with the city I've been living in for the last three years. I concluded that working around UD would be better than returning to Nashville, where my waitress uniform and apron anxiously wait for me.
It's funny how we make plans without sharing them with God. And then...He chuckles. And, in his quiet and loving way, He remarks, "Well, Meg, I have something better in mind."

As a friend cleverly coined it, LAUD (or, "Life After UD") has been eating away at everyone's brains, a image reminding me of disturbing scenes from Dante's Inferno. Funny, in a way, LAUD is hell. And there LAUD is, gnawing away.
And yet.
I look back at all the times when I was convinced that I had it all figured out.
So many times.
And, in truth, I did not.
Not even a little bit.
Alas, here I am, sitting in the kitchen of my summer condo, affectionally known as "The Congo." Its bright, colorful walls and its endearing space has been my little home these past three months. And I'll be moving out in less than a week, a sign that senior year is well on the move and it has no intention of slowing down.
Tonight, in my little home, I find myself unable to sleep, so I bean to type. And here I am, typing furiously, listening to Fiddler on the Roof, reflecting on how time has flown. Sunrise, sunset. I don't have my answers about my summer and my future, but maybe I'm not asking the right questions. Ironically enough, the question mark key no longer works on my Mac. Coincidence [question mark] Likely. Annoying [question mark] Definitely.
All in all, the summer has been somewhat of a retreat. I feel like I have stepped out of reality, or what man understands the real world to be. And in this surreal world there can be found something much clearer. Loads of silence. Quite a bit of frustration. And much peace.
Blessings,
Meg
